Lucca Carnival Main Events:
Masked Parade on the Walls & Piazza San Michele
23rd February, from 15:00
- A dazzling parade of masked groups and miniature floats.
- Route: Porta Sant’Anna → City Walls → Piazza San Michele.
- Live screening of the Viareggio Carnival floats.
- Dance performances and themed choreography.
- Special attraction: A 4-meter-high panther, inspired by Lucca’s coat of arms.
The Skull Parade & Papier-Mâché Art
From 8th February
- Piazza dell’Anfiteatro: The Skull Parade, featuring artistic skulls inspired by Día de los Muertos.
- Palazzo Pretorio: The Gorilla by the Cinquini brothers, a giant masterpiece of Carnival art.
- Piazza del Giglio: The Shamans by Michele Canova, mysterious mythological figures.
Laser Light Show & Bacchanal Festivities
16th February, 17:00 – Prato del Marchese (Porta San Donato)
- A breathtaking laser show with music, volumetric effects, and 3D animations.
22nd February
- 19:00, Piazza Anfiteatro: Allegra Baccanata – An evening of fun, masks, and entertainment.
- 21:00, Piazza Anfiteatro: Ivana Spagna live in concert!
Children’s Carnival & Street Performances
15th & 22nd February (14:30), 1st March (16:00) – Piazza San Michele
- Fire-eaters, stilt-walkers, confetti, games, and traditional Carnival sweets.
CarnevalFratta – Lucca’s Historic Carnival
2nd March, from 15:00 – Piazza San Francesco
- A cultural and artistic celebration with performances, food, and traditional floats.
- Hands-on workshops for masks and float creation.
